Terror from within

I've heard a lot of talk about this Summerworks theatre losing their funding. Stories seem to imply that the Harper government pulled funding because of a play, Homegrown, that glorified terrorism. The lapdog in me wants to lay down and roll over, say it's just a coincidence. But the bulldog on my shoulder says bite.

Let's assume the play does glorify terrorism--which I doubt, because artists hate terror as much as politicians. Isn't it important to see terror from the other side? Terrorists are humans (or dogs), too. I think it's important to undertand what drives people to believe that killing and causing fear are positive forces in this world. Apart from that, it is not a government's place to say to adults, "This is too dark. You should not see this because it will corrupt you."

Maybe it will corrupt. Maybe I can't have back that innocence I once had. But that's my decision. I know I'm an animal, but I choose to be civil.

But then again, I'm just a dog.

Rainy Sunday

Sooo lazy. Daddy tried to get me to go outside at the ungodly hour of 11:00 this morning. I would have nothing of it. Instead, I lay here sprawled on the floor, waiting for Mommy to wake up. Daddy's so silly. He's gone to the store to get cleaning supplies and food. Doesn't he realise that all he has to do is wait around and that stuff magically appears? So silly.

So, having been trained at the Canadian Conservatory of Performing Barks, I am now ready to start a career as a canine theatre professional. Not much going on for dogs in the arts in this town. No bites. Gotta do this the right way. Do a couple of pro-bono gigs to get my name out there, find a groomer I can trust, get some quality head shots done and most importantly, start networking. There's plenty of dogs in Point Pleasant Bark. I'm sure some of them are in the local entertainment industry. I just have to stay clean. I've seen too many dogs get hooked on puppy crack while waiting for that phone call. Not me.

My special talent is chewing, so if anyone has info in local chew-flicks in production, let me know.

Someone keeps photographing me...

It creeps me out a little. I keep finding these pictures of me on my hard drive. I have no idea how they got there. But I sure look damned cute. I think whomever takes these pictures is quite obsessed with me. I can't say I blame them. Tired now. Falling asleep. Chew ya later.

You gotta do the best you can. And work out twice a day.

As an up-and-coming Haligonian thespian canine, I need to stay fit. Running around my small one-bedroom apartment works, sometimes. When it gets old, I drag daddy outside for a midnight run. He's so lazy.
